this is my pinned comment from our livestream at bby gang wherein we watched and discussed youtuber d’angelo wallace’s video, “i don’t like BTS’ new song.”

here’s my TLDR for d’angelo and those who don’t want to watch the full stream:

the video is mostly kinda bad. though it’s perfectly okay for him to not like the song, he seems to try to make larger points about it being objectively bad which do not cohere well. he switches between saying he just doesn’t like the record, and that the record is “unprofessional” in its creation and that they Should be doing a different type of music. some of his points border on offensive. he also makes some stronger points, but they are overshadowed in my mind by the negatives of the video. while i often like d’angelo’s content and respect his attempt to articulate himself, this video missed the mark in my mind.
